Upcoming Version Update Details (14/02/2007) In the upcoming version update, we plan on introducing the next segment of the Treasures of Aht Urhgan missions, as well as a number of new features and improvements that will make your life in Vana'diel more enjoyable than ever before! Check out today's Topics for a preview of some of the changes. New Missions In the next version update, we will be continuing the Treasures of Aht Urhgan missions where they left off in the October update. The next installment will include the appearance of new monsters, the four Mamool Ja overlords, the mysterious Dark Rider, and many other surprises you won't want to miss! Merit Points A new graphic effect will be added that will let surrounding players know when you have gained a merit point. Also, you will be able to switch between experience point mode and limit point mode in any area, not just your Mog House. *You will not be able to switch modes while under a level restriction (such as in a battlefield or during an Assault mission), or when participating in Besieged. *Allocation of merit points will still only be possible within your Mog House. Item Storage and Card Cases The NPC who stores certain equipment sets will begin accepting relic-level armor in the upcoming version update. Also, the arrow-bundling NPC has expanded her wares to include cases that allow you to carry 99 corsair cards as one item. Map Marking The next update will see the appearance of an NPC that will mark your magical maps to make it easier to find those special NPCs, such as the minstrel of melodies, and the item storage NPCs.

And there's more... Besieged Adjustments (20/02/2007) In the upcoming version update, we plan to make further adjustments to Besieged, including a level increase to the beastman armies, the addition of new temporary items, and new combat abilities for the Serpent Generals. Beastman Army Level Increase In addition to the maximum value for enemy forces being increased to 170, level 7 units comprised of new monster types will be introduced for each beastman army. Be sure to participate in Besieged to discover what deadly new opponents threaten the Imperial capital! New Temporary Items To coincide with the threat of powerful new enemies, the variety of temporary items distributed at the beginning of every Besieged will also be expanded. These new items will have an offensive focus, and their availability will depend on which NPCs have been taken captive and the overall condition of the Imperial defense. Serpent General Abilities The Serpent Generals will each receive unique new combat abilities to use during Besieged. Join the fight against the beastmen alongside these inspiring leaders!

Generals will get Ultima. It takes all mobs in the area down to less than 20% HP, kinda like Demi. Okay... I'm just pulling that out of my ass, but it would be really cool. It might suck when Undead Swarm comes to town because of the damn Charm. Be kinda funny though.

In the upcoming version update, we plan to introduce two new dark knight spells, as well as implement changes to Signet that will improve party play for smaller groups. Signet Bonuses The adjustments made to improve player accuracy and attack versus monsters of a higher level, as well as the measures implemented to benefit full parties and prevent unfair pulling practices, have made it difficult for smaller groups to cooperate efficiently against weaker opponents. In order to address this issue, the following bonuses will be added to the Signet effect in the upcoming version update: - Increased Healing HP - No TP loss while resting - Bonus experience earned in smaller parties - Increased defense and evasion against attacks from your auto-attack target - Increased Healing HP The initial value for Healing HP (based on the character's level), as well as the incremental jumps in Healing HP (based on the character's maximum HP), will be increased. This change will improve Healing HP in a similar fashion to the bonus granted to Healing MP by the Clear Mind job trait. - No TP loss while resting While this bonus is in effect, TP will not be lost while resting. This will allow players to rest fully for their next battle while still maintaining the store of TP they had built from their previous opponent. - Bonus experience in small groups The amount of experience earned while in smaller parties will be increased. This bonus will be applied on the following scale: Example *The experience earned for defeating special monsters will remain unaffected. - Increased defense and evasion against attacks from your auto-attack target Players will gain a bonus to their defense and evasion against their auto-attack target. This bonus only applies to attacks from an opponent who you are auto-attacking with a drawn weapon. There is no effect against attacks from other sources, including monsters that unexpectedly join the fray. *This bonus will only apply to monsters that check as "even match" or weaker to the player. The bonuses described above will only take effect when a player has received Signet, and is within the usual Signet-specific areas. These bonuses do not apply during Ballista, or other PvP events. New Dark Knight Spells The following dark knight spells will be introduced in the upcoming version update. - Drain II (Lv.62 Recast Time: 3 minutes Duration: 1 minute) Steals an enemy's HP, potentially increasing maximum HP. Ineffective against undead. HP drained that exceeds the amount necessary to fully heal the dark knight will temporarily boost maximum HP. As well as healing the dark knight, this spell should prove useful in providing extra HP for abilities such as Souleater. - Dread Spikes (Lv.71 Recast Time: 3 minutes Duration: 1 minute) Covers you with magical darkness spikes. Steals HP from enemies that hit you. Ineffective against undead. While Dread Spikes is in effect, the dark knight will drain an amount of HP from an enemy corresponding to the amount of damage inflicted by each of the enemy's attacks. Dread Spikes will wear off after the dark knight has absorbed an amount of HP equal to a certain percentage of his maximum HP, regardless of the remaining duration. *The effect of Dread Spikes will be adjusted during PvP. The HP absorbed by the reactive effect of Dread Spikes will not generate enmity for the dark knight. *The dark knight will still be KO'd if a single attack inflicts an amount of damage that exceeds his remaining HP.

LMAO! Bob... enjoy Drain 2 for those 2 weeks. Sounds too good to be true, but that would be so sweet if they don't nerf it... Guess we'll have to wait and see.

To be honesst drk is slacking in DD department i dont think they'll nerf it. and absorb tp was way to over powering to begin with. i mean its one thing to be able to get a boost in tp fast like *samurai* or *ranger* its another thing to just get tp for casting a spell. Aka boost > standing there and taking all a mobs/person in ballista's TP from just being present. Drk = DD that kills themselves to do dmg and allways have. However in this game sams are TP expert and should remain that being as they cant kill them selves to do 3000dmg with a single weapon skill. In older games Sams we're more an enfeebling job it kinda is now seeing as how many of their WS have an add effect more so then other jobs~ and to me having absorbs spells dark only is a little degrading. but also keep in mind ANY SPELL A PLAYER CAN USE A MOB WILL USE so expect DarkKnight Type monsters and NM's like um.. JOURM. to get extremely harder. u must remember to nerf a player they will nerf a monster and i doubt they'll do that~ Dread spikes will deal dmg to a % of hp u have...hmm wander how much hp jourm has.. 50k~90k?100k? more? Beseiged trolls have like that much hp too :D it'll be a challenge to kill drk mobs now, unless they dont buff normally but usually blm mobs do so i dont see why drk wouldn't. Question is if its dispellable or not. Drain2 mobs wouldnt drain more then a player. A mob drains 300~hp with drain just like drks and blms so thats not scary. question is if they do or not?SE could put a lil trick on it, like more hp u have more hp u'll drain~ :D that would be sexy and cool i'd like to see jourm suck 2000-10,000hp out of a pld

Again these arent facts just an opinion so dont rush to say what I'm saying is stupid, I'm saying SE never really nerfs a job unless its truely destroying game play such as ppl buying gil and lvling rng cuz 4 rng make an xp pt and kills a mob in about 5seconds from all 4 of em doing a 2000-2500dmg WS and not taking a single point of dmg. It deserved to get nerfed but not to the extent it did. Rng was supposed to be a job that does dmg not soeffected by a mobs lvl and on top of it is *ranged dmg* can hit stuff anywhere. Anyways u get the gist SE only wrongly nerfed smn a allready weak job by changing the dmg avatars can do greatly. spinning drive used to do like 3000dmg or 4000 something like that. and since avatars hit mobs weaker to them they could farm easier then any job lol. what job most suspectible to nerf is prolly imo, is hmmmm i onno if anything they should un nerf PUP lol, its not a bad dmg dealer, but its not highly good at anything either.. pups a deffensive job that can only wear mage armor its like what the fuck. *B guard B eva Evasion bonus Resist slow Martial arts 3 and they get errant shit for armor* how bout like something useful, enmity and a long lasting Sentinal thing make em tank or something,sheesh. after all this game only has 2 real tanks why not a 3rd? anyways this would just go in SE's suggestion box and be tossed ;;

Yea i just saw that too, and i'm DL it now, that's gonna be so awesome, more ulli for us if we can get the pop items. speed belt may be rare/ex, KA will drop either or, so it'll cut down on rmt selling them, but the nm's will still drop the regular ones but may also drop a rare/ex one too.

looks like there's gonna be some real sweet stuff in this update.... hopefully cut down on some of the rmt activities and give us a chance at gettin the items we all want :D GJ SE!!!

As long as the RMT doesn't constantly camp the Ulli pop items, I'm feeling that we're gonna be kicking some Ulli ass!! Woot!! Maybe we can have a chance to actually fight Byakko and I can use some points for something other than Money items. As for the DRK spells, I really think they were a godsend. Drain 2 just sounds wicked, just hoping that the quest for it isn't ridiculous if it is quested. Dread Spikes... Don't really have a comment for that one. Ulti, I agree about PUP. I took it to lvl 11 and lost interest because I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing in the party. Even at low lvls, they can't really DD and they can't really tank.... SE needs to define PUP sometime.
